Visa and Vaccination Information
All visitors to Rwanda, regardless of the length of their stay, are required to have a valid passport that will not expire within at least six months of their arrival in Rwanda.

For stays of three months or less, visas are not required from citizens or nationals of the following nations: The United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Sweden, South Africa, Hong Kong, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Mauritius.

All travelers to Rwanda must have a certificate attesting they have been vaccinated for yellow fever. It is also recommended that travelers ensure they are vaccinated against typhoid, cholera, hepatitis A, tetanus, polio and diphtheria. Rwanda is within a zone where malaria is prevalent, so all travelers are advised to appropriate prophylactics.

Money
The Rwandan currency is the Rwandan franc, divided into 100 centimes. Credit and debit cards are not widely accepted, save in a few upscale hotels in Kigali (MasterCard being the most commonly accepted card). Travelers cheques are also not widely accepted, though some banks in Kigali may cash them. No more than 5000 Rwandan francs may be imported or exported from the country.

Climate
Rwanda lies in the tropics, and has the tropical seasonal division, into wet and dry seasons. However, because of its mountainous location, Rwanda¡¯s climate is rather cooler than the equatorial norm, and Kigali can get cool in the evenings. Temperatures average between 24.6-27.6 degrees Centigrade (76.3-81.7 degrees Fahrenheit). Rwanda¡¯s dry seasons are from April to October and December to February. The heavier rains fall from January to April; the lighter rainy season is from October to December.
