The Harmony Concert on September 13-14, boldly embraced this concept of cultural convergence with a powerful display of color and creativity. Featuring all the performers who participated in the Cultural Competitions and closing with an emphasis on the oneness of the world's diverse peoples, the Harmony Concert featured special guests Saltacello, a German Quintet Ensemble who played their original piece called "Bridge between the East and the West" and Utagoe, a Japanese Choir who expressed through beautiful harmonies a message of peace to the world.
During the Harmony Concert, one particularly poignant example of this fusion of arts, culture and peacebuilding was witnessed in Tibetan musician Nawang Khechog's deeply moving bamboo flute performance. A disciple dedicated to the Dalai Lama's nonviolent teachings, the famous flutist sounded loudly and resolutely the message for peace and the need for inner peace to be the starting point of all peacemaking endeavors.
